POP STYLE

Roy Lichtenstein has landed in LA, in Bel Air to be exact.

Smart man.

This past weekend I stopped by to visit ROy at the Skirball for the "Pop For The People Exhibit" because I had Heard he whipped up something extra special for artists like myself. Word on the street is that the exhibit  had a very cool installation where you can immerse yourself in the art and feel like you're dead center in one of his prints. Lichtenstein's 1992 painting - Bedroom at Arles - which was based on a series by the same name by Van Gogh came to life and you were the main character.

Roy was the real MVP for the Pop Art movement and was one of the key players who made fine art accessible to the American public in ways that had not been possible before. Kind of like his buddies Andy Warhol & Jasper Johns.

For me personally, since the internet raised me, I would say I favor more of new-age pop art. But, Liechtenstein is a classic - kind of like a black Chanel bag.

Captivating, Controversial, Colorful & Contemporary.
